National day of mourning on July 15 over terror attacks



ISLAMABAD > Caretaker Prime Minister Justice (retd) Nasirul Mulk has announced national day of mourning on Sunday [July 15] for victims of the deadly Mastung blast and other attacks on election events that claimed over 150 lives.

In a deadliest attack on election campaigning, a suicide bomber killed more than 128 people at an election rally in Balochistan’s Mastung on Friday (July 14), in the second election-related attack on the same day.

Balochistan government in an earlier statement, also announced two-day mourning across the province over the suicide bombing in Mastung that also killed Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) leader and an election candidate Siraj Raisani.

During the day of mourning, the national flag at the government buildings will fly at half-mast, while all the offices and schools will be closed on Saturday (today).

The markets and transport will also remain closed during the days of mourning.

The bombing was the most deadly attack in Pakistan in over three years and is the third incident of election-related violence this week.

Raisani is the second electoral candidate to be killed in pre-election terrorist attacks this week.
